An excellent applied mathematics text book on partial differential equations
As mentioned by the author, the text book is for students and researchers whose main interest "lies in finding solutions of particular equations rather than in the general theory". I like particularly the sections on Green's functions (for Laplace's equation, wave equation and diffusion equation). The boundary integral equations that are now familiar and discretized in present day boundary element method can be found in this text book which was published in 1957! The publisher Dover must be commended for making this highly readable and useful text book available at a relatively inexpensive price.
