Summary: A perfect gift for your neighborhood
Rating: 5

If you suspect that an undergraduate friend of yours can be a mathemamatical genius this book can be more than a perfect gift for him/her. The text was used in the XIX century as a training handbook for the most difficult math test of the time in England. It lists nearly 6000 teorems with a sketch of their proof, covering almost everything was known in mathematics at the beginnig of the century. You can use it as a reference but the REAL experience is to read from theorem 1 trying to understand every proof. If someone can do this then he/she has good chances to get a Fields medal sooner or later. By the way, I used it as a reference....
